Stagflation for 5th Graders

Inflation, as we know, is a complex topic. One of my Mortgage Advisors asked that I talk more on ‘stagflation’ soon. I went to ChatGPT and asked “explain stagflation for a 5th grader”…and here’s the response. I love the simplicity of this definition, and possibly something to teach your team/clients/database:

Stagflation:  when two things happen to a country's economy at the same time: things get more expensive (that's called inflation), and the economy stops growing fast, so not many new jobs are created. Imagine you have a lemonade stand, and suddenly the price of lemons and sugar goes up a lot, so it costs you more to make lemonade. But at the same time, fewer people are buying your lemonade because they don’t have as much money to spend. So, you're making less money, and everything still costs more. That’s kind of what happens to a whole country during stagflation.
