Reverse Mortgage HIVE – Meeting Summary
For those who weren’t able to join today, here are a few key takeaways from our discussion.
1. The opportunity is advisor conversation, not just product education.
Financial advisors often recognize when a reverse mortgage might help a client, but many are hesitant to bring it up directly. A big opportunity for us is helping advisors frame the conversation around housing wealth, liquidity, and cash-flow planning rather than the loan itself.
2. Tools should answer questions, not create complexity.
We discussed simplifying the calculator strategy. Instead of presenting a suite of tools, the focus should be on answering the key questions clients ask, such as timing, access to equity, and long-term impact on home equity.
3. A centralized Reverse Mortgage education page is in development.
The goal is to create a single destination for advisors that explains the strategy, provides a few core calculators, and shows practical planning scenarios.
4. Short case-review videos may be a powerful communication tool.
A 2–3 minute video summarizing an analysis can make it easier for advisors to understand a scenario and share it with clients.
5. Keep the toolkit simple.
Rather than overwhelming advisors with too many tools, the group leaned toward focusing on a small number of core calculators that clearly illustrate reverse mortgage strategy.

If anyone has ideas or examples from their own advisor conversations, please bring them to the next session.
We are also looking for feedback on a couple of items for the new Reverse Mortgage Education book that's designed for families and senior home owners. If you're interested in helping on that, please email Todd or John.
